It's a Pokemon sengoku fantasy~

emoclonetypeSo being the crazy obsessive fan that I am, of course I HAD to tune in to niconico and watch the live stream of the press conference for the upcoming Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition game. So! I figured I'd share some of the random info and screencaps I managed to grab. |Db
First off, some of the interesting information I managed to jot down inbetween all the ramblings! The game's apparently been in the works for something like three years, which explains why it's being released for the DS and not the 3DS or something. The inspiration for combining the two games apparently came in part from the fact that there's 17 elemental types of pokemon, and in the original Nobunaga's Ambition, there's 17 countries to conquer. (As gameplay footage shown a little later in the conference showed, it looks like each country DOES have an elemental theme to it...)
More characters were also revealed! Yukimura and Masamune were unsurprisingly present, as well as Aya and Ginchiyo (whom Floaty was kind enough to help me identify XD).
More characters were revealed during a gameplay demonstration, though I recognized few and got caps of even fewer...
...did I mention there seems to be some elemental themes going on? Looks like Motonari's a solid grass-type.
Battles aren't necessarily JUST about fighting! The stage demonstrated featured more of a "capture the flag" task, in which the goal was to capture all three flags on the field.
Gameplay is a turned-based strategy game style, done by player turns. That is, each player moves all of his pokemon, then it switches to the next player's turn. Pokemon retain their elemental advantages and disadvantages from the games, though overall the battle system is fairly simple; the game is meant to be playable for people NEW to strategy games, basically. So if you're an old pro looking for a challenge, this probably won't be the best game for you. (Well, unless Koei includes some kind of hard mode....)
Also, the battle system features a "bushou power" that can be used to power up the pokemon on the field; for example increasing how far a pokemon can move in a single turn.
The first printing of the game will include a promo card featuring a black Rayquaza- apparently THIS is what that mysterious shadow at the end of the PV is.
Unsurprisingly there's also figures. :|a
...I'll be honest and admit I stopped paying much attention to what was being said at this point. >_>;; Nice costume, though!
Oh, though it looks like the player teams up with Oichi pretty much from the start of the game.
On a random note, the viewers on niconico had some serious discussion going on prior to the start of the conference regarding the proper way to abbreviate the title of the game. I'm betting on it ending up being PokeNobu, although I did like the Nobumon suggestion someone tossed in... :|a
And I can't remember if there was anything else I was going to comment on so uhh yeah!
