Notes on Mewtwo's speach!

So, as most people already know, Mewtwo is a psychic-type Pokemon! To the extent that, whenever he talks, he is talking psychically. There are no exceptions to this, he never speaks aloud, all his communication is telepathic. It doesn't seem to even matter what he's talking to or whether the other person/Pokemon is psychic or not, either, he simply speaks directly into their mind.

Because of this, I'm really... not going to bother doing something like italicizing his comments or anything because he always does it and there's really no point! Just assume that if you are talking to Mewtwo, his voice is in your head. This doesn't mean he's reading minds or anything else though, just... that's the way he communicates.

Also, I'm going to say that yes, yes he can be "overheard" if he's talking to someone if someone else happens to be nearby, same as normal speech. Whenever he talks in canon, he projects it to everyone around him rather than a specific individual or two, so while he's probably capable of limiting himself if he wants to, that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

With that in mind! If anyone has any questions/comments/special cases in regards to Mewtwo's communicating psychically feel free to let me know, either by poking me on IRC or dropping a comment here.

While it MAY NOT COME UP......unless I jump you or you jump me. Uh. Kira is immune to psychics. This seems to be pretty complete unless you are roughly as powerful as god and currently raping him with tentacles at the time. So. Yeah.

Also he doesn't know he's doing it! He can't turn it off. So. I'm going to assume he literally wouldn't be able to hear Mewtwo. If we ever thread, by all means TALK to him, but he'll respond without being able to hear you, and furthermore, assuming, you aren't trying to talk.

........alternatively, as a demon/angel/sword thing he's pretty much omnilingual, so he would probably be able to talk to Mewtwo if he ever tried to speak outloud, since, he's sentient. idk. they can talk to dragons and floating skulls in their canon.

Haha yeah I FIGURED THERE'D PROBABLY BE A CHARACTER OR TWO IN CAMP LIKE THAT so... if they DO meet, however you want to play it? Not being able to hear Mewtwo could potentially hilarious when everyone else around him can, for example (not to mention it'd sure throw Mewtwo for a loop) so yeah.

Though I'm actually not 100% sure on whether Mewtwo CAN talk out loud- in the anime he always speaks psychically regardless of the situation, so it seems like that's his "normal" and natural way of communicating.

Ah, dropping a note here that Kazahaya and Caeru are capable of mentally shielding themselves. Kaza's is pretty strong when he concentrates on it, but it's almost always there to some degree.

Hm... and the only other one would be Lancia... which is more of a plea. He's unfortunately pretty open to psychics, but he will NOT like having anyone in his head. Trauma buttons. The plea is: please don't let this stop them from threading. He'll get over it, and Mewtwo is adorable. ♥

I figure that Mewtwo's "speech" is about as non-intrusive as psychic/telepathic contact gets, so if you wanna say people can or can't hear him either way works. He's rarely out to read minds anyway, and I'd ping someone before doing so in any case. |Db

...you know, honestly I have no idea. XD POKEMON IS WEIRD because there's like... pokemon that are made of magnets and metal bolts and yet are still pokemon and the only type immune to Psychic types is Dark so who KNOWS how it works. I'm inclined to just say go with whatever seems to work best for the particular character/situation at the time and not worry about being remotely consistent, because Pokemon canon sure isn't. I could probably justify it either way, so!
